Boeing 737
1/144
by: John Wong

I built this one for the Dir. of Maintenance
for Falconbridge's aviation department who looks after this airplane.
The aircraft is a 737-2R8C, s/n 21711, and was
operated by Air Tanzania through much of its previous life. Falconbridge
bought this airplane in early 2004, and retrofitted it for passenger / cargo
operations over a period of 8 months. The aircraft entered service in the
middle of March, 2005.
The kit is Airfix's old 1/144 kit with some
mods:
- The cockpit windshield was replaced with a
windscreen from the Minicraft 737-400 kit.
- The gravel deflector (scratchbuilt) was
added to the nose landing gear along with the fairing for this item.
- Vortex dissipators added to the chin of the
engine inlets
- Model rescribed
- Standard decals were used for the routine
items such as doors and windshield markings.
- Logos were custom printed from an Alps
printer
- Model Master enamels or Testor's enamels (the
old little square bottles) were used -- the gloss areas were polished paint --
Future was brushed over the decals only.
Would be nice if someone came out with a decent
kit of the 737-200 !
