Avro Lancaster II 1/48

by Garfield Ingram

Tamiya's big 1/48th scale kit was used a base along with the Paragon conversion kit to turn it into a more rare Mk II version. The    kit   was easier to build using the conversion kit engines because the fit is so much better. Paragon also supplied resin bulged bomb bay doors which were fitted so that the large cookies could be carried. I used Belcher bits 8000lb cookie and smooth tread tires for a more accurate representation. the kit was re-scribed and the elevators cut away. Other than that the model was built straight up. Gunze acrylics were used on top and Model Master enamel for the bottom.

The nose art was made from a playing card that was reduced and copied onto decal paper. All other markings were sprayed on using Frisket masks.
