Yak 1 1/48

This is the Accurate Miniatures 1/48th kit which depicts the machine flown by Lilya Litvak hero of the Great Patriotic War. The kit was meant to be a mental health break but had a few frustrating areas that had to be addressed. One was the leading edge light. I inserted an MV lens and added a new cover made from heat-formed clear sheet styrene. The other troublesome areas were around the radiators which needed the insertion of sheet plastic to box in the area. A Squadron canopy replaced the overly-thick kit part.

Model Master enamels were used throughout. Hecker & Goros makes the excellent pilot figures. These figures are available from Quarter Kit in France.
