T55 1/35
by Richard Briggs
This was built out of the box
really isn't any point in building one of these
anymore...what with
better kits available from ESCI and Tamiya. But, around
1989/90, Lindberg
released a T-55 -- as well as some other horrible 1/35th
Russian kits, and,
being more energetic than I am now, I took up the challenge.
This kit was
BAD, the barrel was square in cross section! Back then the
only aftermarket
was used, along with tons of scratch-building and stealing of
parts where
ever I could find them (a Tamiya T-62 was sacrificed to
improve this kit).
Interestingly enough, I'm glad I built it -- I can now sit a
Lindberg and an
ESCI T-55 beside a Tamiya one on the shelf.
This model depicts a "garden-variety" Soviet T-55 in the 60s
or 70s.
